A socially outcast freshman develops a connection with her eccentric art professor whose own radical, organic artwork is making waves in the art community. Coming too close to her would-be mentor, she uncovers the shocking secrets of his craft: he paints with the remains of the recently dead, and intends to use her for his next masterpiece.

Educated through Ryerson School of Media Jerrad honed his filmmaking skills and continues to explore his abilities as a filmmaker.
Peter Strauss
Writer, Editor
I've been obsessing about film long before I neglected to actually go to film school. When Hobo With A Shotgun came out, I worked with some friends and made VAN GORE, a satire to the film school I missed out on and an homage to the Roger Corman era schlock movies I unabashedly love. Oh, I also work in post-production as an Editor and Motion Graphics Animator in Toronto.
This would be a enjoyable short but a boring full length movie
Gerad C. Posted 6 months ago
Strange concept and feels borrowed from Rodriguez.
Samson W. Posted 6 months ago
silly
Maddie F. Posted 6 months ago
Hilarious and creative!
Bruce E. Posted 6 months ago
Reminds me of a Criminal Minds episode which aired this year entitled "Magnum Opus" (episode 13, season 8)
Erik K. Posted 6 months ago
different kind of movie but could be great
Cassandra K. Posted 6 months ago
Cheesey and cheep looking. It Looks like they tried to hide Low production Value by making stylized choices in post.
Natalia N. Posted 6 months ago
This story has such potential. I think your redux trailer is a great improvement from the original.
Tyler S. Posted 6 months ago
I wasn't too sure if this was trying to be a horror or a comedy. That saying the gore in this film is splendidly well done!
Bonnie S. Posted 6 months ago
Little corny. Treated more seriously as a pure thriller I could see success.
Joe M. Posted 6 months ago
Ripping off one of the worst movie makers in history, Herschell Gordon Lewis, means that you've merely ripped off garbage to make garbage. Why? Its a well made faux cheapo trailer but...Is Color Me Blood Red in the public domain?
Michelle E. Posted 6 months ago
I agree with Sally. But this is definitely gross, well done, and the concept is kind of interesting, just not sure how it will fair as a feature-length.
Quetzali A. Posted 6 months ago
awesome!
Taryn K. Posted 6 months ago
Alittle confused on the concept and what is actually showed but very interesting and want to see more
Joslyn P. Posted 7 months ago
A bit too cheesy almost seemed like a comedy sometimes. Some parts were really unrealistic, like the blood pouring in the Jars and the girls makeup when she was crying. Too heavy on the white lines. Good work
Tracy R. Posted 7 months ago
I guess this is just not my kind of movie. I suppose it's meant to be cheesy, but that's not a draw for me. I am perhaps not the target market for this movie.
Dimas T. Posted 7 months ago
good luck
Greg S. Posted 7 months ago
Not my cup of tea
Meg L. Posted 7 months ago
The idea of murdering a bunch of art students is the only appealing thing about this. It's gross. Not the gore, but the misogyny.
Louise M. Posted 7 months ago
I was strangely fascinated by this one. Interesting concept, glad it was done a little tongue in cheek or it would have been gross.
Gilbert P. Posted 7 months ago
Not my type of movie, but my wife would love it.
Pat M. Posted 7 months ago
Too. Gruesome
Ros G. Posted 7 months ago
Horror is not my thing
Matt D. Posted 7 months ago
great work!
Paddy T. Posted 7 months ago
A tantalizing fusion between guts and guile; I enjoy the old packaging new contents approach that has been taken here. I am eager to see more of this film
Tom R. Posted 7 months ago
Okay found my favourite ! Please make this !
Cheryl M. Posted 7 months ago
Very creepy!
Warren C. Posted 7 months ago

Deserves a much higher rating. Fantastic job. Team Contained.
John W. Posted 7 months ago
Love it. Outstanding. Creative. One of a kind
Dan R. Posted 7 months ago
feels like a rip off of what was done only a few years ago.
David A. Posted 7 months ago
"Life imitates death" was probably the funniest line in this competition. Good Luck!
Kari W. Posted 7 months ago
Was alright but concept was not fully there
Donal O. Posted 7 months ago
It's a great trailer but I don't see how it can scale up.
The Real S. Posted 7 months ago
my kinda flick good
Sherri M. Posted 7 months ago
Great work and absolutely love it!! Would really love to see this as a full length movie!!
Artem S. Posted 7 months ago
I really liked it. Probably my 2nd favorite horror themed one. Excellent job guys.
Deryck D. Posted 7 months ago

Shawn A. Posted 7 months ago

Rich A. Posted 7 months ago
Definite 70's Drive-in feel to it, for sure.
Ryan F. Posted 7 months ago
Phenomenal B-Movie Style!
Jason G. Posted 7 months ago
Really looking forward to watching this. Super old school horror cheese. Looks great!
Patricia F. Posted 7 months ago
Can't wait to see in theatres....love Grindhouse!!
Amy Z. Posted 7 months ago
AH! Reminds me of something I would of seen during the 'Grindhouse' double feature! SO awesome!
Lisa A. Posted 7 months ago
Didn't like it as much as I'd hoped.
Emma S. Posted 7 months ago
I LOVE THIS! I have always been a fan of grind house. I think this would be an amazing short film. I just worry about it being a full length feature, you can only stretch the gag so far. The other worry is that if Quentin can't make money doing grindhouse how will your approach top his? Good Luck, I really would like to see this. Made me smile all the way through.
Liam C. Posted 7 months ago
I like the idea.
Meagan H. Posted 7 months ago
Totally nailed the look and feel and with a perfect plotline behind it. I got a good laugh. Well-done on the trailer, looking forward to seeing what's next.
Jake C. Posted 7 months ago
Nailed the style, nice work.
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
This really deserves a much higher rating than given. An excellent execution of the grindhouse style, a unique trailer, new kills I haven't seen yet... Well done guys! I'm a fan. (Team Gillian's Just Right)
Brenna T. Posted 7 months ago
really confused and a bit lost
Derek C. Posted 7 months ago
Loved it with Hobo and love it now... can't wait to see the feature!
Gerry S. Posted 7 months ago
This trailer is absolutely phenomenal.... but I can't see this concept being stretched out for feature length.
Daylen M. Posted 7 months ago
A bit confused, and disgusted by the baby scene. I really don't see a story like this doing well on the big screen
Michael M. Posted 7 months ago
Good for a SNL skit but not more than a trailer
Danielle M. Posted 7 months ago
This looks fun. I enjoy your style. Good luck to your team.
John K. Posted 7 months ago
Campy and funny.
scott w. Posted 7 months ago
really cool idea wanna see where this is going
Clutch W. Posted 7 months ago
Yeah - some super funny moments but agree with those who say it's not meant to be a feature. Make it as a short. Novelty would wear off over the long haul.
Bob C. Posted 7 months ago
Funny
Denis J. Posted 7 months ago
great for a short film..can't see this play out for a feature
Monty J. Posted 7 months ago
criminal minds
Zach S. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome...I wanted Grind HOUSE and I git exactly what I wanted...just an awesome all real no Computer imaging and it just is fun to watch
Lew D. Posted 7 months ago
Looks like fun!
Mark P. Posted 7 months ago
Will be an excellent film, cannot wait to see it.
Lauren F. Posted 7 months ago
nifty idea! and title
Bernie H. Posted 7 months ago
Love it but it will not hold an audiences' attention for 90 minutes.
Adam M. Posted 7 months ago
Did not fully like the concept of the horror spin but was a fan of the idea
Jessica P. Posted 8 months ago
Cheesy, but dark. With a sense of a 1970's homemade horror flick. Enthralling in it's own special way.
Kelly G. Posted 8 months ago
Been seeing this around for ages now. Good luck, guys!
Bryan E. Posted 8 months ago
Van Gore has already shown the world that it has incredible potential after blowing peoples minds on their DVD's/Blu-Ray's of Hobo With A Shotgun. It is now finally time to give this film its rightful place as its own feature-length film on YOUR movie shelves!
*To Clarify: I am pretty sure that Criminal Minds episode everyone is complaining about came out in Jan. 2013, where Van Gore was made long before it. Just saying.
Katie T. Posted 8 months ago
Works as a trailer, but will it as a feature? Not sure but love the campy jokes and the spin on horror flicks.
Mike L. Posted 8 months ago
funny concept but can it keep up for 90 minutes?
Kellie M. Posted 8 months ago
Not something I would watch as a full length film- where would this story go for a full hour and a half or more? I don't see it.
Peter M. Posted 8 months ago
this is on hobo with a shot gun that i own, should have thought of something new and original for a different contest
Farnsworth S. Posted 8 months ago
What the heck?
Daniel D. Posted 8 months ago
Best. THAT BITCH IS HIGH AS A KITE!
Sandy P. Posted 8 months ago
Not too shabby but I'm totally done with gory shit, OLD news.
Jereme W. Posted 8 months ago
Definitely a Top Contender! Well done! Grindhouse styles!
Jason M. Posted 8 months ago
do love the cheesey 70's b-horror movie feel.
Tammy B. Posted 8 months ago
such a great idea Criminal Minds did an episode on this same concept!
Amanda B. Posted 8 months ago
I HAVE to fucking see this!!!!!
Ella P. Posted 8 months ago
Gross. And creepy. But original, but I wouldn't want to watch it.
Dawn F. Posted 8 months ago
You don't have to like horror movies to appreicate this film and how much work has been put in to it...I know this would be an amazing feature film!!
Kirk L. Posted 8 months ago
Nonsense
Lisa B. Posted 8 months ago
Kinda creepy but I can see its potential.
Brock S. Posted 8 months ago
Disgusting. But in a good way. I mean that in a good way.
Reginald R. Posted 8 months ago
I liked this project. I wish that it was new content, not recycled from a couple years ago. Either way still cool
Ryan M. Posted 8 months ago
I can't see this as a feature length film, at least not without an amazing actor and groundbreaking cinematography. I do like the vibe though, maybe a short?
Shane S. Posted 8 months ago
You guys know your source material very well. An excellent grind house-sploitation-cult trailer. However, while playing it "straight for goofy" makes this project work in trailer form. I can't YET see it as a feature.
The great thing about this style of film-making which I think is lost on most who try it, is the filmmakers back then weren't trying to something "cult" or "awfully good" they were just trying to make a good movie. Pam Grier fight Gladiators was suppose to be sexy and violent, and Manos was suppose to be a terrifying hell bound movie, the irony and humor there were added by fans after the film had been made not while they were making it.
Again you guys have a great visual understanding of what you are making and this could be really great. Just not there yet for me. But will damn sure watch out for you guys. Great job. A lot of potential and we need more people like you to breath life again into this genre.
Kelly S. Posted 8 months ago
I had the pleasure of showcasing this great trailer at one of my movie nights I host. Good luck guys!
Samantha L. Posted 8 months ago
It looks fun and I like it's attitude towards itself, not too serious. These types of movies are awesome and necessary but I think I need something more than this can offer from the winning film.
Jonny B. Posted 8 months ago
Love faux trailers! Really keen to see how it translates to a feature & hope they have a trailer making contest which in turn making another movie. The gory circle of life!
Dave H. Posted 8 months ago
Love it.
Kris J. Posted 8 months ago
This trailer was great. It really had that classic over-the-top acting and dialogue that makes this genre so entertaining. The narrator did a great job and I liked the usage of the movie title throughout. My only critique would be that the old film reel effects were a bit much. It felt a bit out of place at times. Good Luck guys!
Diana D. Posted 8 months ago
Ha ha - AWESOME!
Araxi K. Posted 8 months ago
So much work put here! Brought me back to the vintage horror films I enjoyed when I was a teenager, I wish you hadn't killed that baby...
Jamie M. Posted 8 months ago
Love the grindhouse homage. Nice work guys!
Harmin K. Posted 8 months ago
With a better announcer voice it would be a cool trailer. Otherwise it's missing what Grindhouse had.
Coty G. Posted 8 months ago
Excellent concept!
Brett D. Posted 8 months ago
REALLY want to see this film made!
Jimmy S. Posted 8 months ago
these guys do such amazing work! this is classic!
Arron K. Posted 8 months ago
Reminds me of the old days of the Horror genre
Jade t. Posted 8 months ago
Trailer was good for what genre it's marketing to but it's quite a niche. Wouldn't necessarily want to watch full feature like this but I definitely know people who would
Ash O. Posted 8 months ago
I have been hoping this project would become a feature film since it won a spot on the Hobo with a shot gun DVD.
Michelle G. Posted 8 months ago
Wow - I'm very surprised that this received so many high ratings...I guess it goes to show you that friends can really skew the results. This film looks awful.
Jennifer C. Posted 8 months ago
A very appropriate grindhouse premise complete with all the wit and aesthetic the genre demands. Interesting and egregiously violent, I love it!
Troy B. Posted 8 months ago
Awesome Keith!
Steve K. Posted 8 months ago
OHHHHH HELL YEAH!!!! This is super awesome. Full Feature PLEASE
Keith M. Posted 8 months ago
Pretty grind housey, but didn't enjoy the idea of watching this movie.
Luke S. Posted 8 months ago
Pretty hilarious! Dunno if this could hold up for 90 minutes, but good trailer! Back off on the grain tho.
Courtney W. Posted 8 months ago
Hilarious, dark and cinematically artistic - very entertaining!
Chado M. Posted 8 months ago
Hahaha - I don't see it opening in a theater but I'd buy the DVD
Alex B. Posted 8 months ago
Hahah This looks hilarious! The blood effects are great too. I hope a feature length comes out soon! Poor baby...hahah.
Jennifer M. Posted 8 months ago
Shut up, take my money, and make your damn movie.
Mark R. Posted 8 months ago
This should win.
Marc B. Posted 8 months ago
To clarify, if you're a fan of Criminal Minds and find a relation to the episode (which only aired about a month ago), notice that this trailer was made back when the Hobo With a Shotgun faux trailer contest was going on and won on April 11, 2011, almost two years before the CM episode, so if anything they may have taken this idea, just thought I'd say
Paul T. Posted 8 months ago
Fun teaser that gets the grindhouse teaser format really well. but can anyone real stand to watch this for 90 minutes?
Sean B. Posted 8 months ago
Rough.
Jeremy B. Posted 8 months ago
Unfortunately, Grindhouse is right behind zombies for film trends I don't like. I'll pass on this one.
Larry S. Posted 8 months ago
Sounds thrilling, funny and campy all at once. Great work
Eduardo M. Posted 8 months ago
LOVE the sense of humor in this trailer, very well done. You have successfully out-Grindhouse'd all of the trailers that were shown in 2007's "Grindhouse" flick (yes, the Rodriguez and Tarantino collabo). Hope to see more!
Patricia S. Posted 8 months ago
There was an episode on criminal minds were a phsyco drained the blood from his victims and painted pictures with it..... copycat much?
Eric B. Posted 8 months ago
Amazing!
Brad G. Posted 8 months ago
More Van Gore! Just a taste of this sadistic tale is not enough for me.
Grant M. Posted 8 months ago
Well done!
Michael W. Posted 8 months ago
This is really disturbing and low-brow.
Nuno C. Posted 8 months ago
Great casting. Very funny.
Michael L. Posted 8 months ago
Gotta love grindhouse.
Jon S. Posted 8 months ago
I liked this because I understood it. A+++ would do business with again.
Kevin P. Posted 8 months ago
I like the style of it, got a little carried away with the film grain though
Not gonna lie, I laughed so hard at "This bitch is high as a motha-fuckin' kite"
Anton S. Posted 8 months ago
This is an exceptionally well made short film that takes it's stylistic cues from the artfully-trashy genre filmmaking of Tarantino and Rodriguez. Still it's humorous plotline is very original. I encourage visitors of this site to check it out!
Sam J. Posted 8 months ago
Can't wait to see this!
Mark P. Posted 8 months ago
Have you seen the trailer?????? This is a must see for everyone. Cannot wait to see the feature.
Sarah L. Posted 8 months ago
A twisted comedy! Love it! Gonna remember this one. The actor who plays Van Gore is great!
Michael B. Posted 8 months ago
Van Gore definitely seems like my kind of film. The trailer already has me mentally lining up for this awesome film! Good on everyone involved in the making of this extremely entertaining piece!
