Marc made us some compositional elements before, but he didn't have the opportunity to tie them to the proper trailer. With this outing, he got that chance, and it was definitely much improved. With a little more time, we have no doubt he'd be able to do a great deal more.

We thought about doing something really cheap, like "go wide!" But we wanted to clean up some things we just didn't have time to address with the original trailer. Glad it works for ya!

I agree with Michelle G, the idea was supposed to show how you made this trailer work on a cheap trick budget. It was good for a very short trailer but didn't explain anything about how you did it cheaply.

I don't get the cheap trick here. I would have appreciated more if you showed us maybe the raw images and what your team was able to do with those to get the final product and how much you had to spend on that.

Fair enough. For this trailer, it cost us nothing. These are great professionals we work with, and they give us breaks. Sound and soundtrack, and giving a tone to the image, are all vastly cheaper than elaborate effects. And we've got a great team to do the whole film.

I can see (hear) the results of light and sound rather than more expensive effects. It makes one wonder why bigger movies can't borrow the talent to make less expensive movies.

Well, the bigger the movie, the more expensive the talent. It's just as true for the talent below the line, and there's some really phenomenal technical people out there. We're lucky to have a few home-grown wonders in our stable!

We probably could've spelled it out better. The trick is things like sound and score dont's seem like tricks, but they add a huge amount to what you feel, and cost much less than big effects.

What Paul said below. Post-sound and picture is a fraction of the cost of major-league VFX, but it can do a huge amount of heavy-lifting for setting the mood. Coulda hammered that harder in the vid I suppose!

The finishing touches are but a fraction of the cost of shooting, and they make such a huge impact on the final film. Starkers doesn't require extensive VFX or pyrotechnics, so we though this was a way of illustrating how we can make it even better without spending much.
