An old man suffers from memory loss due to Alzheimer's. His memory and health deteriorate as his daughter, whom he has not been in contact with for years, takes him in.
Her husband, a scientist, believes he may have found a way for the old man to reconnect with her daughter again. The doctor has a radical belief that memory isn't truly lost. He builds a machine in an attempt to communicate with her father through his dreams.
Memoria is about the unexplored connection between Alzheimer's, memory loss, and dreams.

It's a neat concept but the trailer didn't excite me, I don't know if I could sit through a feature length movie. I'll check out your other missions and see if something else piques my interest. Good luck!

This is a really hard subject to tell stories about and i think that it has just the right amount of... something, to make it work. Good luck.

Finally, some SF that isn't completely hampered by SFX. Wonderfully Crichtonesque with even a little Marker and Resnais.

interesting subject would like to see more
Kelly B. Posted 7 months ago
I like the theme in this one. It hits more to home. I wanted more heartfelt relational frustrations to come out with the father's dementia/Alzheimer's worsening and the way it can cripple the family. But it was a good overall! Nice music.
Carol Ann T. Posted 7 months ago
Great story line, would like to see finished film, some of it is not so convincing but thought actors where good
Jillian W. Posted 7 months ago

I can relate to this video, I think that it shows another way to communicate. and if this was to happen it would give the person with 'Alzheimer's a better quality of life. Hope that this concept may one day be possible. A good video.

This is a very poignant piece. I lost family to Alzheimers so I know first hand how this feels. After witnessing it myself, It's obvious that when the mind is gone the body will follow. It's great that you guys highlight this obscure topic that seems to be plaguing more and more people. Nice shots, natural lighting(key,) score and acting were both very respectable, and is it just me or does your leading lady got a Rachel McAdams thing going? Overall tight! Good luck guys-Team Zone

An interesting idea, but all three leads are going to need to nail their roles if this film is going to have any sort of legs. As it stands now, the trailer doesn't really show them in the best light.

Interesting concept. Looking forward to learning more about the narrative. btw, cool and funky clamshell brain machine.

When I think of the movies I love most, what makes them memorable is their story, followed by how that story is told. Great concept! Excited to see how you're going to continue developing it. Sean Horlor (The Mill and the Mountain)

Ally F. Posted 8 months ago
Effects are well done, really enjoy the subject topic. Looking forward to seeing this made.
Ella P. Posted 8 months ago
This is an amazing idea. No other trailer I have watched so far brings the level of mental stimulation that "Memoria" brings! It questions our current views of Alzheimer's and ask the "what if" about the dream world which other films haven't yet. I am very impressed with this brilliant production. Given the money to fully develop this project into a feature, I feel this would make a film that is a step above everything else in North America. Excellent job. Cannot wait to see what you come up with in the weeks to come.
Phil B. Posted 8 months ago
Excellent all around. Not sure where the conflict will come in for the full length, but the concept has me in a head-lock. Great example of what the best sci-fi can do - food for the imagination yet very much based in human experience and life. Very best of luck!
Rachel C. Posted 8 months ago
Cool concept! I think it would make a really interesting, thought provoking movie:D
Brittany C. Posted 8 months ago
Creative concept. I love how this new technology uses dreams, something I think we take for granted for their importance, and perspective on our lives, and transforms them into a means of communication and dialogue. You could take this concept so far, I feel like Memoria is just the beginning. Well done.
Chuck F. Posted 8 months ago
such a sad story! I feel like it needs a direction though, feeling scattered
Marcelo P. Posted 8 months ago
Great concept! This is relevant considering the increase in alzheimer's disease in our communities. The music is excellent and great direction!

First, lest all just clarify.
These "Trailers" are concepts, mock-ups, sketches, to show a treatment of the concept and to introduce the projects. Too many people are voting down great concepts because this is not clear when they vote so... below is an excerpt from the FAN FAQ;
-----
Are these real trailers?
When you rate and review trailers, keep in mind that most were shot without budgets, casts or even scripts. It’s simply an idea for a project that’s yet to be made.
To apply to CineCoup, filmmaking teams were asked to create a 2-minute trailer that showcased their talent, creativity and ability to build an audience for a feature film concept.
Call it a “Faux Trailer”, “Concept Trailer”, “Pitch”, or even an audition... it serves as a first impression and gauge on the team’s ability to appeal to audiences with a kickass idea. What do you think?

-----
This is the best concept on CineCoup, above all even mine, and if all the production values were at the same level this project would be way above the the rest.
I hope you pursue all the avenues to getting this into production regardless of your progress here. All the best with this.
Can't wait to see more

Richard B. Posted 8 months ago

THE BRAIN IS AN ORGANIC COMPUTER?!?!?!
Daniel H. Posted 8 months ago
An interesting concept. Trying to navigate losing someone to Alzheimer's is a difficult thing. Since we haven't had the disease, it's hard for us to understand what is going on with our loved ones. I am confident the film would be emotionally touching, but the immediate problem I have is the perception of memory. If the man has Alzheimer's, his brain is being physically eaten away; that is, he loses brain matter. Any memories in that matter will be gone, dream or not. Also, the idea of going into a dream with someone feels very "Inception." Finally, the production value of the trailer is quite low. Sound quality could be better, lighting more even, etcetera. I realize what emotions the filmmakers are trying to evoke, and that is commendable. But with a severe plot hole from the get go, and poor production value, it's going to be really hard to do that effectively.
