Roxanne M. Posted 7 months ago
Loved this!
Michael L. Posted 7 months ago
This is a well crafted pitch video. At least you explain the intent of the film that's not the typical Hollywood romance movie.
Gertray D. Posted 7 months ago
Well pitched for the viewer and financiers
Nellemarie H. Posted 7 months ago
I totally agree that more films should feature women's issues - we don't need to buy in to the weak "save me" concept of women. Drives me nuts! Oh, and what a great shot if the flat iron building!
Warren B. Posted 7 months ago
You guys found some very likable people who will make us weep. Awesome.
Julie H. Posted 7 months ago

Heartfelt pitch. It shed more light on the concept for me but I don't think it "changed" my mind. Nice job though, good luck.

Good Pitch - Good luck on your film
Lee H. Posted 7 months ago
well filmed pitch, but its hard to get behind you girls when you are so opinionated. This isn't really appealing to the male population atm
Jake C. Posted 7 months ago
Haha, are you serious? Yeah, opinionated women, the worst. Better put these ladies in line, thinking on their own, developing their own opinions. Danger. Who let these women have a film studio in their kitchen, am I right Lee?
Lee H. Posted 7 months ago
Oh come one i didn't mean it like that, you are just trying to start something to discredit all negative/constructive feedback. Very impressed by their ability, the film industry needs both men and women. All im saying, and its not just me, is that it just seems a little too heavily opinionated in a way, and its tough to get behind it for that reason. These women seem hard working and lovely, so don't put words in my mouth. Both extremes of too much girl power and too much testosterone are no good.
Thomas P. Posted 7 months ago
Oh Lee, feeling a little intimidated by women?
Elie K. Posted 7 months ago
Loved the pitch! Absolutely thrilled to see the full feature film! You ladies are professional and are hungry to make this happen. Much respect and best of luck!
Mandy G. Posted 7 months ago
A decent pitch but a little defensive of your film.
Jonathan F. Posted 7 months ago
Can't wait to see this. Looks great.
Agah B. Posted 7 months ago
Lovely idea + Lovely ladies + Lovely pitch + Lovely trailer = Lovely film. Enough reason for me to want to see this on the screen.
Glenda F. Posted 7 months ago
Love this "anti chic-flick" take on filmmaking for and by women. I'm considerably older than these young filmmakers but this is a film I would plonk down my dollars to see. You go, girls, and we'll follow you into the cinemas.
Deanna C. Posted 7 months ago
This looks wonderful. Very original idea for a movie. I can't wait to see it in theaters!
Kevin P. Posted 7 months ago
Great pitch! Not only am I confident the film will be done successfully I can already see that you have picked a well rounded team that will get the job done!
To me this isn't a woman based story, it's a love based story and reminds me of troubles that all of us have to overcome for love or life and having to juggle both in one hand.
From a technical stand point I enjoyed what I saw, great angles/lighting, DOF was well placed and the ADR in this trailer is barely noticeable unlike some of the other trailers. I found this pitch to be organized and technically sound. Congrats girls and good luck!
Kelly G. Posted 7 months ago
Yeah, I totally agree. This is easily the most professional and best looking project in the contest, and people's complaints seem to be more focused on the fact that 3 women want to make a movie about women than anything else, which is a strange gripe when you think about it...
Judging by what they've done so far, they have the experience, the drive, and absolutely the know-how every filmmaker should. So far they seem to be the only ones to have actually made a pitch and not a short film...
Lyle W. Posted 7 months ago
Good luck with this! Would be great to see a full film.
Billie D. Posted 7 months ago
This is very professional and polished, wow! Although it came across a little detached because of that.
Also, I'm really sorry to say, but it's a little unreasonable to say your fan base is under a misconception when you haven't given them means to think otherwise. Your film is called "Long Distance"; your overview makes no mention of anything other than a romance; the concept trailer only shows the girl with the guy (why didn't you film a portion of the script where SHE'S at work or talking to someone other than the dude?); your Pinterest and FB are full of trite photos about love and Skype tips; and for reasons I can't figure out, you're giving relationship advice to strangers over Twitter.
I guess I'm confused as to why you would present and promote your project as one thing while simultaneously claiming it is another thing all together. Perhaps I should give you the benefit of the doubt that as you progress we'll see evidence of these lofty claims that your film tackles women's issues and passes that Bechdel test? But for now, what I see is a story "just about a long distance relationship".
Lee H. Posted 7 months ago
toats agree
Doug B. Posted 7 months ago
The more I see from this talented team, the more excited I am about this film! This is exactly what we need in our theatres!
Allen T. Posted 7 months ago
Not my kind of movie, even still, I might watch with my girl. Why are they pulling the gender card? Too much contempt.
Melissa H. Posted 7 months ago
Looking forward to watching the movie after your WIN this competition!!
Theresa P. Posted 7 months ago
What a wonderful pitch! I'm sold!
Dave H. Posted 7 months ago
I love that Roger Ebert quote too! Probably should have credited him though, eh?
Damon E. Posted 7 months ago
Boring. This looks like an EPK bit. It feels cold. I would hope the writer could relate to the story. She wrote it.
Tom S. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome stuff girls!
Annie C. Posted 7 months ago
you're all babes and i love the honesty of this PITCH! i knew it would be more than simply a long distance relationship and i love that this pitch gives a glimpse into the issues. keep it up ladies (& gents)!!
Danny M. Posted 8 months ago
Good point, you do make Canada look romantic. Brave move!
Tina V. Posted 8 months ago
This makes me want to see this film even more, and I think others would feel the same knowing that this "love story" just isn't the same old thing, I have faith that this is going to be a fantastic film showcasing Toronto, new talent, and a story that HAS NOT yet been told! Fantastic work Long Distance team you have got A+ from me, a well rounded, professional project!
Peter B. Posted 8 months ago
Good stuff!
Sophie V. Posted 8 months ago
this is definitely one of the most professional pitches I've seen. Just wish I could have seen more of your personality and charm shine through.
Iain L. Posted 8 months ago
Almost every film or television show I watch consistently fails the Bechdel test. Even independent projects, which are supposed to be more egalitarian. Even though this film is based around a relationship, I think this pitch highlights the producers commitment to showcasing female characters that are more than simply accessories to the male characters. Also, Canadian cities are mad sexy. I'm excited to see Toronto without pretending it's Chicago or NY.
Steven J. Posted 8 months ago
I want to like this because I admire your ladies passion and drive. It just seems REALLY overly pro women, which is cool, but I don't think Hollywood needs a movie thats feministic in any way shape or form... I think it's more your home girl Rose over here saying she watches 300 movies a year, mostly chick flicks, and then is offended by them. Maybe chick flicks isn't where her heart should be then? .I don't know, but anyways, clearly you ladies are doing something right and congratulations and good luck!!! :)
Thomas P. Posted 7 months ago
Hollywood doesn't need a feminist film? You are sorely mistaken.
Natalia N. Posted 8 months ago
one of the more serious mission videos. Would love to have seen more of your personalities but none the less well done ladies!
Alexandra B. Posted 8 months ago
Way to be strong independent women! I feel like this really does feel like your average chick flick, but you kept insisting it's not so I look forward to seeing whats different. Good luck from the ladies.
Stephanie K. Posted 8 months ago
Looks interesting! I'd love to see what you guys can do for women's stories.
Laurie D. Posted 8 months ago
Way to go! Perhaps if you get the funding you could include Vancouver or Halifax or Saskatoon. It's a wonderful project to represent women and Canada. Good luck!
Rose L. Posted 8 months ago
Just wanted to let you know that there are a couple of scenes in Vancouver and we plan on shooting Vancouver as sexy as we shoot Toronto and Montreal. We'll see if we can work in Halifax and/or Saskatoon. :)
joel A. Posted 8 months ago
Great pitch! Very nice hearing from these talented ladies. Keep up the good work.
Eric M. Posted 8 months ago
Yay Canada! Unfortunately, I'm not sold on the idea of a "long distance" relationship because Toronto and Montreal aren't that far apart.
Glad to hear that it's more about the characters themselves than their relationship.
I'm interested to see where it goes now.
Chris C. Posted 8 months ago
Well said ladies! Hope you guys pull this off.
Etz B. Posted 8 months ago
It's so refreshing to see confident, determined, and intelligent women making something they truly believe in with their own unique voice. Excellent!
Ginette M. Posted 8 months ago
You guys are doing an awesome job keep up the good work
Callista B. Posted 8 months ago
Generally movies/media addressing a woman's dreams and desires are incredibly narrow minded and archaic. It's refreshing and inspiring to see holistic and honest stories are being told. Keep up the fantastic work!
Jason M. Posted 8 months ago
Nicely done ladies you brought a lot more heart to your story looking forward to seeing more
Jade t. Posted 8 months ago
Great energy ladies:)
Darren R. Posted 8 months ago
Rose, Emma and Sara really nice work on the pitch. Remember, stay strong and keep your focus. Ignore the silly comments. Remember what I said. Hopefully we cross paths near the finish line. I always love a good story and you have one.
Jon S. Posted 8 months ago
This team is so confident, they seem like they could definitely bring this film to life; from pre-production all the way home.
Paul T. Posted 8 months ago
Good to meet the team. Nice clip!
Sasha H. Posted 8 months ago
Just checked your team's IMDB, didn't see any writing or directing credits. Sounds pretty green to me.
Darren R. Posted 8 months ago
That's the whole point of this competition Sasha is to discover new talent and new stories.
Lex K. Posted 8 months ago
I agree with Darren, but there is something inherently spiteful to it all. Other pitches promote a love for cinema, where this one seems to promote a vindictive tone toward it. Art from anger i guess.
Sasha H. Posted 8 months ago
I totally agree with you, Darren. I guess I was just confused because one of the girls talked about long resumes and not being green in the pitch. Why not just embrace that you're a new talent instead? No shame in that.
Jayme T. Posted 8 months ago
Your point is wonderful but shouldn`t be attached to this video, Darren.
If you watched the video again you`ll see that they brag about being experienced.
Cathy S. Posted 8 months ago
Lovely, strong women, I can't wait to see this movie!
Mary R. Posted 8 months ago
Lovely. Enjoyed meeting you Emma and wish your team great success with this project!
Frances L. Posted 8 months ago
Looking forward to seeing this movie. :)
Lex K. Posted 8 months ago
Malarkey.
Kelly G. Posted 8 months ago
Excellent work, ladies. Finally nice to see a pitch that's confident enough in its work it doesn't need to descend immediately into fan-service.
Carolyn K. Posted 8 months ago
Good job ladies! Can't wait to see how you develop the story!
